The following is a series of web resources that citizens can use to explore private power in British Columbia. I have not included the obvious web resources such as Google, MSN, Yahoo etc.
RESOURCE USES
BC Provincial Web Water Licence Query
This online utility allows you to query all water licences in British Columbia. To view private power project licences and licence applications choose "POWER-GENERAL" in the purpose dropdown box. The licence comments are very important so always put an 'X' in the 'licence comments' field. There are many options available in this utility so spend a little time with it to fully understand its usefulness.Integrated Land Management Bureau Land Use Applications and Reasons for Decision
For each private hydro project a proponent's application will contain a water licence application and one or more land use applications. This facility allows you to view some of the details of the land use applications.Integrated Land and Resource Registry Mapping Service
The Integrated Land and Resource Registry (ILRR) is a spatially enabled, comprehensive register of legal interests, rights, designations, and administrative boundaries on Crown land. It also has information on land and resource restrictions and reservations (e.g. Parks) and locations of private land. Public users need a Basic BCeID id and password to logon as a Guest User. The Guest User link will walk you through how to get a Basic BCeID. Guest Users can only access the Map Viewer portion of the ILRR. Here you can view the granted land tenure information for private power projects.iMap BC
Provides spatial viewing access to over 100 datasets from many different agencies. You can add your own lines and text through the use of Markup tools provided in the application and print the result.
